What is Popeye Village?
Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village, is an old film set built for the 1980 movie Popeye. What was once a film set has now been transformed into a small-scale seaside theme park, located in Anchor Bay in the north of Malta. And honestly: it looks exactly like in the photos —
👉 colorful wooden houses, a bay with turquoise water, and a slightly “almost unreal” feel.
Is Popeye Village Malta fun with kids?
Yes — visiting Popeye Village with kids is definitely fun, but with a small nuance. It’s not a big amusement park, but more of a playful experience for a few hours. For younger children (up to around 10 years old), this is a really fun and playful place. For older kids (or yourself), it’s more of a “nice to have seen” kind of spot. What’s especially fun for younger kids:

Shows & entertainment
Throughout the day, there are various shows featuring well-known characters such as Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Bluto. Really fun for kids — interactive and not too overwhelming.
Be in a movie yourself
One of the most fun things: you can take part in a short film shoot. At the end of the day, you can watch it back (and buy it if you want). A great keepsake for the kids.
Playing & exploring
Scattered throughout the village, you’ll find small playgrounds, an indoor play area, mini golf, and above all: plenty of space to wander around. The houses are also furnished on the inside, which makes it even more fun to explore.
Swimming (in summer)
In the warmer months, there is a swimming pool for young children and a water play park in the sea. This instantly makes your visit more fun (and refreshing). Bring your own towel!
Location & accessibility
Popeye Village is located in Anchor Bay, near Mellieħa in the north of Malta. It’s easiest to reach by rental car, and there is plenty of parking available. Tip: after your visit, take a short walk to the Anchor Bay viewpoint → this is the spot for that perfect view (and your photo!).
Tickets & prices
Prices vary by season and range between €15 and €25 per person. Children under 3 years old enter for free. Most activities are included in the ticket price. Tip: buy your tickets online in advance to avoid waiting times.
Food & drinks
There are several places inside the park where you can get snacks, drinks, and simple meals. You’re also allowed to bring your own food (very handy with kids!)

It’s especially enjoyable with younger children and therefore extra worth it in summer (with water activities).
