Seville with kids is highly recommended; it’s even our favorite city in Spain. The city is about a 3-hour flight from Amsterdam. As soon as you leave the airport, you step into a completely different world. Here, you find yourself in the real Spain: flamenco dancers, charming tapas bars with bull heads on the walls, and countless orange trees.
Seville, located in the south of Spain, is the capital of the Andalusia region. With a population of over 700,000 people, it is the fourth largest city in Spain. The city has a rich history and is steeped in culture and traditions.

The best way to explore a city with young kids? If you ask us, it’s definitely by bike! And Seville is a great city for biking. There are many bike paths that are elevated next to the road, making it easy to cycle in Seville.
We rented our bikes from Baja Bikes, including a child seat and helmet (mandatory for children).
Plaza de España was built in 1928. The building makes us feel like we’ve stepped into a fairy tale world. It’s one of the most iconic sights in Seville and a perfect first destination to explore with kids. With a bit of luck, you might even see Spanish ladies dancing the flamenco!
You can visit the square for free. Another fun activity with kids is renting a boat to paddle on the beautiful waters of the square. Be sure to also visit the adjacent Maria Luisa Park! Especially in spring, you’ll find a stunning sea of flowers here. And don’t forget about the playground it’s a pleasure to sit on a bench here.
After visiting Plaza de España, we bike over to Plaza de Toros, entering the world of bullfighting. Of course, we didn’t go to a bullfight (I can’t even condone washing elephants ), but I thought it would be interesting to show the kids this aspect of Spanish culture.
We took a walk through the beautiful building, the small museum, and finally to the arena. Lizzy especially found everything very interesting. If you’re in Sevilla, it’s definitely worth a visit!

A highlight of a trip to Seville with children: the Royal Palace – Real Alcázar de Sevilla. Beautiful buildings and gardens where you can wander for hours.
Don’t be like us; buy tickets in advance! Only a certain number of people are allowed inside each hour. We arrived at opening time (9:30 AM) and stood in line for an hour to buy tickets for the first available time slot, which was at 12:30 PM! If you’re unlucky, there might not be any tickets left for the same day at all.
You can easily purchase tickets and tours online through the GetYourGuide website: getyourguide.nl/koninklijk-paleis-van-sevilla
We unfortunately haven’t been there, but it seems to be a lot of fun! Isla Mágica is an amusement park that takes you back to the 16th century. With a range of thrilling attractions, water slides, and themed areas, the park offers an unforgettable experience for young and old alike.
