Insider tips from Gosia of @wandermama.diaries
Thailand, our second home! A country that has all the ingredients for an unforgettable family trip (see here an example family trip through Thailand): beautiful nature, tropical beaches, interesting culture, incredibly delicious food, the friendliest people – and it’s also budget-friendly!
Gosia has lived in Thailand for 4 years, and her two children were born in Bangkok! In this blog, she shares her best tips for a wonderful time in Bangkok with kids.

Choose your hotel location carefully – Bangkok with kids
If you want to visit Bangkok with kids (which I definitely recommend!), book a hotel near a Skytrain station or close to the places you want to see. The traffic is often gridlocked, so you’ll want to limit taxi rides. I recommend booking a hotel in the Riverside area, where the most famous temples and the historic center are located.
Wat Arum IconSiam – Bangkok with kids
Visit the temple Wat Arun (the most beautiful one, in my opinion!). Go early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds. After that, take the boat to the shopping center IconSiam. It’s perfect for cooling off and tasting local delicacies at the impressive food court they have there – including a floating market!

Lumpini Park – Bangkok with kids
Another Bangkok tip is Lumpini Park. There’s always something happening: locals doing their aerobics, huge monitor lizards, paddle boats on the pond, and a playground. Go in the early morning or late afternoon/early evening to avoid the heat.

Excursion to Phuket – Bangkok with kids
There are frequent and affordable flights from Bangkok to Phuket. Phuket is one of the largest Thai islands, offering a lot of variety in terms of beaches and family-friendly activities. If you enjoy lively beach bars and a child-friendly beach, Kamala is a great choice. If you prefer tranquility, you can opt for the north (Mai Khao) or the south (Nai Harn).
Phuket is also a great hub for exploring other islands. On Ko Yao Noi and Ko Yao Yai, for example, you can enjoy tranquility, beautiful beaches, and local culture.

The only downside to Thailand is the mass tourism in some places. That’s why I created a Thailand travel guide for families, filled with hidden gems and insider tips. I also create custom trips to Thailand, because I want other families to enjoy the same incredible experience we had there!

About Gosia
I am Gosia, a Polish/Belgian mom of two daughters (Cleo, 4, and Rae, 2). Both were born in Bangkok! We lived in Thailand for 4 years and traveled a lot together.
A year ago, we decided to move closer to our family. After our time in Thailand, we knew we were happy with the sun and sea, so returning to Belgium was not an option! We booked an Airbnb (a farmhouse) in northern Portugal, and we liked it so much that we still live here! In the meantime, we found our dream home south of Lisbon, which we will renovate and where we will build a BB. We’re super excited but ready for our next adventure! For now, our plans are mainly focused on our construction project and further exploring our new home country.
