Packing list for vacation with a baby - What to bring

Clothes

– Onesies and bodysuits: Ensure you have plenty of lightweight and comfortable clothing for your baby. Consider short-sleeved onesies and bodysuits, perfect for warm days.

– Summer outfits: Pack cute summer dresses, shorts, and T-shirts for your little one.

– Light pajamas: For peaceful nights, soft and breathable pajamas are a must.

– Hats and sunglasses: Protect your baby’s delicate skin with a sun hat and UV-protection sunglasses.

– Swimwear: A cute swimsuit or swim trunks for splashing fun in the pool or the sea.

– Extra clothing: Always pack extra sets of clothes, as accidents can happen at any time.

Toiletries

– Sunscreen: Use a sunscreen specifically designed for babies with a high SPF to protect their sensitive skin.

– After-sun lotion: In case there is a bit of sunburn.

– Baby shampoo and baby soap: Ensure you have gentle products for your little one’s bath time.

– Diapers and wipes: Don’t forget to pack enough diapers and wipes. However, you can find plenty of diapers and wipes abroad, so there’s no need to bring too many. Swim diapers can be harder to find in some destinations, so we always take enough swim diapers with us, especially when traveling to places like Asia.

– Baby cream: Handy for diaper rash or other skin irritations.

Travel gear

– Carrier or baby wrap: A carrier is perfect for keeping your hands free while exploring new places. We also recommend having a carrier with you when flying!

– Stroller or buggy: For comfortable walks along the promenade or in the city.

– Car seat: If you plan to rent a car or frequently use taxis, a safe car seat is essential. Did you know that some airlines allow you to check a car seat as checked baggage for free? Be sure to check the rules with your airline.

Nutrition

– Bottles and pacifiers: Bring enough bottles and pacifiers.

– Formula: If your baby is on formula, make sure to bring enough for the entire vacation.

– Thermal bottle: Handy for keeping water at the right temperature for making bottles. Did you know that you can always bring baby food as carry-on luggage? This includes a bottle of water as well.

– Snacks: For older babies who are already eating solid food, healthy snacks are perfect for keeping them occupied during the journey.

Packing list for vacation with a baby - Tips for packing

Here are some handy tips to make packing for your sun/flight vacation with your baby go smoothly:

1. Our main tip: don’t pack too much! The more you bring, the more you’ll have to carry, making the trip heavier. Remember that children don’t need much, and almost everything is available for purchase abroad. By not bringing too many clothes, you can keep things organized. This packing list can get you through a week of clothing, and after a week, it’s time for laundry!

2. Start early: Begin packing well in advance so you have enough time to carefully plan and organize everything. This helps avoid stress and last-minute panic.

3. Roll your clothes: Roll your baby’s clothes instead of folding them. This saves space in your suitcase and helps prevent wrinkles.

4. Use packing cubes: Invest in packing cubes or travel bags to keep your luggage organized. This is especially handy if you’re going on a road trip. Use separate cubes for clothing, baby care items, and toys. We bought our packing cubes from bol.com and are very satisfied. If you find yourself bringing more than fits in your suitcase, consider using a compression bag.

5. Divide the luggage: If you’re traveling with a companion, distribute the baby essentials between both suitcases. If one suitcase gets lost, you’ll still have some items on hand.

6. Weigh your luggage: Check the weight of your luggage before you leave to avoid exceeding the weight limit and incurring extra fees.

7. Leave space for souvenirs: Make sure to leave enough room in your suitcase for souvenirs and gifts you want to bring back.

8. Essential items in carry-on: Make sure to pack essential items for your baby, such as diapers, formula, and any medications, in your carry-on luggage. This prevents you from being without important supplies in case of delays or lost luggage.

9. Be prepared for temperature differences: If you’re traveling from a cold climate to a warm destination, consider bringing lightweight layers for your baby to keep them comfortable during the journey.

10. Label your luggage: Make sure all your luggage, including the stroller and car seat, is clearly labeled with your name and contact information.

TravelTravel

With this comprehensive packing list, you’re ready to travel with your baby to a sunny destination.
