Round trip Andalusia with children – Malaga
Stay: 1 night (+2 nights optional)
If you’re looking for flights to Andalusia, Malaga is often the most affordable option. This was also the starting and ending point of our round trip through Andalusia with children. We arrived late at Malaga Airport, picked up our car, and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Málaga Airport.
Due to time constraints (choices, choices, choices), we decided not to explore Malaga itself, but it is definitely a fun option. If you have the time, we highly recommend staying a bit longer in Malaga.

Round trip Andalusia with children – Gibraltar
A visit to Gibraltar is a must during your round trip through Andalusia with children. This is the place that surprised us the most during our road trip.
This small peninsula of just 6.7 square kilometers is known for its unique mix of cultures and fascinating history. It is the only European country where you can spot wild monkeys! Enjoy breathtaking views from the iconic “Rock of Gibraltar” and relax on the beautiful beaches along the coast. Explore the rich history and taste the local cuisine in the charming streets, where British and Spanish influences come together.

Stay: a day trip (+2 nights optional)
Because most hotels in Gibraltar are very expensive, we chose to stay at a hotel outside of Gibraltar. If you’re visiting Gibraltar for just one day, this is definitely recommended. We stayed at Guadacorte Park, about a 15-minute drive from Gibraltar.
Want to see more of beautiful Gibraltar? You can easily spend three days here with kids. In that case, it’s advisable to find a hotel within Gibraltar itself. The border crossing can be very busy, especially during holiday periods.
Sunborn Gibraltar and The Eliott Hotel come highly recommended in Gibraltar.
Round trip Andalusia with children – Seville
The most fun city in Spain: Seville. Located in the south of Spain, Seville is the capital of the Andalusia region. With a population of over 700,000 people, it is the fourth largest city in Spain. As soon as you enter the city, you can feel the essence of real Spain, with flamenco dancers, charming tapas bars, and countless orange trees.

Stay: 3 nights (+2 nights optional)
Seville is a wonderful city to explore by bike. Be sure to set aside two to three days for it. If you, like us, stay at the lovely Ibis Styles Sevilla City Santa Justa , it’s nice to add two extra nights to your stay to fully enjoy the rooftop terrace with pool, bar, and restaurant.

Round trip Andalusia with children – Córdoba
Did you know that Córdoba is the hottest city in Spain? During a trip in the May holiday, you’ll experience the ideal temperatures here.
Córdoba is steeped in history, culture, and stunning architecture. Located along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Córdoba is known for its rich heritage, including the impressive Mezquita, a former mosque that is now a cathedral. Due to the compact size of the old town, Córdoba is easy to explore on foot.
In addition to the Mezquita, Medina Azahara and the Patios Cordobeses are also great places to visit.

Stay: 3 nights
Stay at least 3 nights in Córdoba. We are staying in luxury tents at the glamping site of Kampoah Córdoba.

Round trip Andalusia with children – Alhambra
The main reason we wanted to take a round trip through Andalusia with children was Alhambra. The Alhambra is a magical complex located in the heart of Granada. It has been attracting travelers and visitors from around the world for centuries. This breathtaking site, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to a wealth of Moorish architecture, lush gardens, and intriguing history.
In the blog Alhambra with children, you can read everything you need to know for a visit to this wonder.

Stay: 2 nights (+2 nights optional)
We stayed at Gran Hotel Luna de Granada, about a 10-minute drive from the Alhambra. Sercotel Granada Suites is also highly recommended.
If you want to explore the beautiful city of Granada in addition to the Alhambra, consider adding two extra nights to your stay.
Round trip Andalusia with children – Relaxing at the Costa del Sol
Stay: 3 nights (or longer 🙂 )
You can’t leave Spain without spending a few days at the beach. You have several options. Choose a destination between La Chucha and Malaga, so you won’t have to make any extra kilometers after your road trip through Andalusia. If you prefer to end your round trip between Malaga and Estepona, you can do the road trip in reverse.
We stayed near Malaga Airport at Occidental Torremolinos Playa. Here, you can read about the best things to do in Torremolinos.
