Our first tip: carefully consider what you expect from your stay in Ubud. If you plan to eat breakfast out and shop every morning, staying in the center is an excellent choice. However, if you want to explore the surroundings of Ubud, consider accommodation just outside the center. Traffic in central Ubud can be quite busy, and it can take about half an hour to drive from one side of the center to the other. So, staying just outside the center offers great access to the stunning nature of Ubud.

In our opinion, Ubud is the perfect place to rent a private villa. While the prices may be slightly higher than an average hotel room, these villas offer beautiful accommodations with a private pool at a reasonable price. It’s an experience you should definitely have at least once.

When renting a villa with a pool, it’s essential to pay attention to one important aspect: many villas have an open design, meaning you can walk directly from the living area to the pool. If your children haven’t yet learned to swim, this may not be the most suitable choice. During our stay in Ubud, we actively sought a villa where we could completely close off the living area, preventing our children from wandering unnoticed to the pool.
