Indonesia
The land of rice paddies, temples and tropical beaches
Indonesia is an archipelago of approximately 17,000 islands, with only 6,000 being inhabited. The country is roughly 46 times the size of the Netherlands and has a population of 273 million, making it the fourth most populous country in the world. More than two-thirds of its inhabitants live on the islands of Java, Bali, and Sumatra, which are also the most popular destinations for tourists each year.
The archipelago is located in Southeast Asia, and from the Netherlands, the flight takes approximately 15 hours. Indonesia has a tropical climate, meaning it’s warm year-round with temperatures around 30°C. The rainy season lasts from October to March, making the best time to visit from April to September—an ideal destination for summer vacations!
