South Bali – Where to stay in Bali with children
The majority of travelers choose to sleep in South Bali, especially in places like Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu. Denpasar, the capital of Bali and home to the airport, is also in the south of the island. Still, it would be better to skip Denpasar as a place to stay in Bali with children. It is a labyrinth of busy streets and there is not much for tourists to do.
Kuta, which is also in the south, we would not recommend either. Kuta is notorious for its vibrant nightlife and attracts mostly revelers and vacationers who like a hearty party. If you are going to Bali with children, it is better to choose Sanur. Sanur also has good facilities, but the place is a lot quieter and you get a lot more of the local life.
If you’re looking for a more family-friendly atmosphere, you might also consider Canggu, which is only about 20 kilometers from the airport. Here you will find trendy restaurants that often also have play areas for children. Adjacent to Canggu is Seminyak, where you will find good dining and shopping options. In the very south of Bali, in Uluwatu, you will discover the island’s most beautiful beaches and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.
Central Bali – Where to stay in Bali with children
Known as the cultural center of Bali, Ubud offers countless art galleries. The street of small art shops is endlessly long! Moreover, as in Canggu, there are super many trendy eateries here where you can enjoy delicious meals.
One of the most popular places to stay in Bali with (and without children) is Ubud for good reason. Perhaps the most beautiful part of Bali with lush green surroundings with beautiful rice fields and waterfalls. We do recommend staying a little outside the center. That way you can enjoy the beautiful green surroundings and avoid the crowds on the road in the center.
North Bali – Where to stay in Bali with children
In the north of Bali you will find Lovina, a quiet seaside town with a beautiful black beach. From here you have plenty of opportunities to explore Bali’s most beautiful waterfalls. Lovina is also the place in Bali to spot dolphins. However, be really selective in choosing your excursion here, as sometimes as many as more than a hundred boats are on the water at the same time, which can be dangerous for the dolphins. East Bali – Where to stay in Bali with children
In the east of Bali, you will find quiet coastal towns where you can enjoy authentic Balinese life. In addition, Bali’s highest volcano, Mount Agung, can be found here. If you already have older children, climbing this volcano at sunrise is a unique experience. Amed is a good base for exploring east Bali.
West Bali – Where to stay in Bali with children
In Bali, there are still countless quiet spots to discover. Chances are you will encounter almost no other tourists in secluded gems like Balangan and Blayu. Far away from the hustle and bustle of tourism, here you can enjoy pristine white beaches, an enchanting underwater world, relaxing walks and bike rides through lush rice fields and quaint local villages.
In Pemuteran you will meet a bit more fellow travelers, but that has its advantages. For here you will discover one of the highlights of your trip – the underwater world around the enchanting Menjangan Island.
The Nusa Islands – Where to stay in Bali with children
Right next to Bali are the Nusa islands: Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. These hidden gems are quiet and not yet overrun by tourists. Here you can enjoy nature, beaches, and delicious food undisturbed. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the Bali of old, before it became so crowded.
Each of the Nusa islands has its own unique charm. Nusa Penida offers beautiful cliffs and great snorkeling. Nusa Lembongan has a mangrove forest and cliffs you can jump from. Nusa Ceningan, with a striking narrow bridge to Nusa Lembongan, has white beaches and clear blue waters.
The Gili Islands – Where to stay in Bali with kids
On the west coast of Lombok, are three beautiful Gili Islands: Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. With a short boat ride from Bali, you can be here in just a few hours.
Gili Trawangan is the largest and most lively island. Although there are many hotels and entertainment venues, you can still easily explore the entire island on foot or by bicycle. The west side is quieter and offers beautiful beaches. Gili Meno, the quietest of the three, is a true paradise. It has beautiful beaches, ideal for relaxing and swimming, and you can snorkel there to discover the colorful marine life. Gili Air, the smallest island, is close to Lombok and is perfect for families. Here you can enjoy nature, good food, and activities such as snorkeling and biking.
