Japan with children - Family-friendly and easy to travel

Japan is known for its safe environment, cleanliness, and politeness, making it an excellent destination for families with children. Public transportation is extremely efficient and reliable, and using the Shinkansen (bullet train) is a great way to travel around the country. With the Shinkansen, you can quickly reach your destination, and it’s advisable to reserve your tickets online to avoid disappointment.

For culinary enthusiasts, Japan is a true paradise. Sushi, sashimi, and countless other delicious dishes await discovery. Even in supermarkets, you can enjoy fresh sushi that is affordable and will be a hit with the little ones. Japan with children - Book accommodations in advance.

Are you going to Japan with children? Then it’s important to keep in mind the timely booking of accommodations. Japan is a popular destination, and hotels and hostels can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons. Fortunately, there are many accommodations that offer rooms with sofa beds, which is ideal for families with children.

Japan with children - Tokyo: A magical metropolis

Tokyo is a bustling metropolis that will enchant both children and adults. The city offers a wealth of attractions and activities. A visit to Tokyo Disney World and Tokyo Disney Sea will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Besides the theme parks, you can enjoy beautiful parks like Ueno Park and Yoyogi Park, where children can run around and play freely. Be sure to visit the Sensoji Temple, one of the oldest temples in Tokyo, where children can immerse themselves in Japanese culture. We also highly recommend the Trick Art Museum!

Japan with children - Enchanting Kyoto

Kyoto, the former capital of Japan, is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. The Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) is a must-see, with its shimmering gold leaf and beautiful gardens. A walk through the iconic Fushimi Inari-Taisha Temple will fascinate children with thousands of red torii gates forming an enchanting path. Stroll through the charming streets of Kyoto, where you can find traditional crafts, street food, and colorful shops.

Japan with children - Touching Hiroshima

A visit to Hiroshima will certainly leave a lasting impression on the whole family. The city has a painful history due to the atomic bomb that fell in 1945, but it has since recovered and now symbolizes hope and peace. The Peace Park and the Peace Museum provide educational and moving experiences, allowing children to learn about the consequences of war and the value of peace. A trip to the nearby tourist destination of Miyajima Island offers a welcome escape into nature, with its enchanting landscapes and traditional Japanese architecture.

Japan with children - Discover Osaka and Nara

In Osaka, families can enjoy exploring Osaka Castle, a historic fortress that provides a fascinating glimpse into Japan’s past. The city also offers great shopping, street food, and amusement parks that will surely entertain the little ones.

Nara, home to the famous tame deer, offers a unique experience for children to meet these friendly animals up close. The local information center with an earthquake simulator can provide an educational and unforgettable adventure, although it’s wise not to tempt the local gods after this experience! Japan is located in an active seismic zone, and earthquakes are a real risk there. We experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 the day after our visit.

About Sharon

We are Rob, Sharon, and Nore (8), a travel-loving family. In 2014, we took a world trip together. In Thailand, we spent hours brainstorming: how could we create enough passive income to avoid going back to the normal routine? After returning from our world trip and with the help of our network, we decided to invest in real estate. In 2019 and 2022, we made our 2nd and 3rd world trips to countries including Costa Rica, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and South Africa.

We gain so much energy from discovering countries and cultures. We are proud to give our daughter the freedom to explore. Since 2019, we have been able to live off our passive income. This year, we left in mid-February with our camper to explore Europe, starting with Spain and Portugal, and then moving on to the Balkans.

So far, we have visited over 50 countries, more than 30 of which we explored with our daughter. We would love to return to Australia and New Zealand, as well as Africa.

Traveling with young or school-age children? If you really want to do it, there’s always a way to make it happen!
